4. Deer Incense Burner. 12" long, diameter 2 1/2". Copper, brass and nickel silver. Decorated on the sides with brass medallions of the eight sacred symbols, on the ends with a row of repousee dorjes, and on the top with two deer, symbolizing the turning of the wheel of dharma in the deer park at Sarnath. One of the ends opens to a drawer and the incense can either be inserted in the holes provided or laid flat on a bed of sand (or, better yet, the incense ash of all the incense that has been burned before -- that's the way the Tibetans do it). The smoke filters through a decorative floral panel on the top. $45.
